Biography

From January 2023, I will be the Director of the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University, the leading public policy school in the region. I am proud to have been elected a NAPA Fellow in 2022. My most recent appointment was as a Professor of Public Management at the University of Melbourne (from 2013-2023) and from 2018, I was on an extended secondment to the Australia and New Zealand School of Government. My research interests are in public sector reform and relationships, and I have worked across levels of government in Australia and internationally on a range of research topics related to these themes. I have been a Fellow of the Institute for Public Administration Australia (Victoria) since 2013, and I am currently an elected member of the board of the Public Management Research Association, and a ministerial appointment to the advisory board of the Victorian Public Sector Commission.
