Biography

Prof. Ho is an expert on performance budgeting and financial management, e-government, and citizen engagement. He has published an edited book, more than 75 journal articles, proceeding articles, and book chapters, and 20 research reports for various organizations. Many of his research projects are the results of engaged research, working closely with practitioners in state and local governments, think thanks, and foundations to address real policy and managerial issues to make a difference. For example, his research on performance management and citizen engagement was so impactful and helpful to the City of Indianapolis that he was honored by Mayor Gregory Ballard and received the Proclamation of “Dr. Alfred Ho Day” on June 17, 2010. Prof Ho grew up in Hong Kong, received his MPA and Ph.D. from Indiana University Bloomington, and previously taught at Iowa State University (1998-2004), Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (2004-2010), and University of Kansas (2010-2020).
