Biography

Anthony Griffin had a 37-year local government management career, including 20 years as a chief administrative officer. He served three localities in Northern Virginia: Arlington, Falls Church, and Fairfax County. At Fairfax County, he served as County Executive for 11 years and Deputy County Executive for Public Safety and Planning and Development. He served as chair of the Chief Administrative Officers Committee for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments for 10 years and similarly chaired the UASI funding committee for 8 years. He has participated in police and fire training and has been directly involved in selecting fire and police chiefs. As County Executive, he was also the Director of Emergency Management.
