Biography

William J. Walker held the position of the 38th U.S. House of Representatives Sergeant at Arms from 2021 to 2023, marking a historic first as the office's inaugural African-American appointee. Prior to this, he served as the 23rd Commanding General of the District of Columbia National Guard, overseeing both the DC Army and Air National Guard units. Walker's extensive career also includes his tenure as a Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Before retiring from the DEA in 2014, he held the title of Director of Strategic Warning Intelligence, where he led a team of intelligence officers in producing critical strategic assessments on high-priority transnational drug threats to the U.S., supporting the DEA's Global Drug Flow Attack Strategy.
