Biography

Rakesh Mohan is a visiting clinical professor at Boise State University’s School of Public Service. Prior to joining Boise State, he led the Idaho legislature’s independent, nonpartisan Office of Performance Evaluations (OPE) for 21 years. Under his leadership, OPE conducted studies that have helped the state to improve its services and accountability and save millions of tax dollars in unnecessary expenditures. OPE recommendations have assisted policymakers with some of their major policy and budget decisions in child welfare, health, education, and transportation.
For its utilization focused work, OPE and Rakesh have received awards from the American Evaluation Association, the American Society for Public Administration, and the National Conference of State Legislatures. Rakesh serves on (1) the board of the American Society of Public Administration’s Center for Accountability and Performance, (2) the editorial advisory board of the American Journal of Evaluation, (3) the editorial board of State and Local Government Review, and (4) the advisory board of Boise State University’s School of Public Service.
