Biography

Dr. Jennifer M. Brinkerhoff is a Professor of Public Administration and International Affairs at George Washington University. She holds a Ph.D. in public administration from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She has published eight books, five co-edited journal issues, and over seventy articles and book chapters on topics ranging from the evaluation to NGOs, failed states, governance, and diasporas. Her most recent research focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in American foreign policy. Dr. Brinkerhoff has consulted, conducted research, and advised studies for multilateral development banks, bilateral assistance agencies, NGOs, and foundations. Prior to her academic career, she worked on partnership, civil society development, development management, and training methodologies for the U.S. Agency for International Development and the World Bank in Mali, China, Mongolia, Central Asia, and Russia. She won the 2021 Distinguished Scholar Award from the Ethnicity, Nationalism and Migration Studies Section of the International Studies Association; and the 2016 Fred Riggs Award for Lifetime Achievement in International and Comparative Public Administration from the American Society for Public Administration. She is an elected Fellow of the National Academy for Public Administration.
